If you’re looking to make the most out of your visit to West Hollywood then get ready for the high-energy nightlife on the Sunset Strip which hosts some world-famous Rock & Roll venues, hot nightclubs, and amazing restaurants.

Originally, West Hollywood, known as Sherman was founded in 1896 by Moses Sherman, who was a partner of the Los Angeles Pacific Railroad. As a settlement for railroad workers, Sherman developed a reputation for being a liquor-diverse, and less-restrictive place, especially during the Prohibition era, thus molding West Hollywood’s lively character.

Sherman was renamed West Hollywood in 1925, based on the vote of residents who wanted to stress their connection to the neighboring prolific city, Hollywood.

  1. Vacation on the Sunset Strip

Looking to stay directly on the Strip? West Hollywood is home to some of the most famous hotels in the world. The Mondrian LA is a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of West Hollywood captures everything the Strip stands for – excitement, invincibility and glamour or if you’re looking for something with old-world Hollywood charm and character, you can try Hollywood’s most notorious celebrity hideaway, the Chateau Marmont. The Chateau is probably the best spot for A-list sightings, especially in its two fantastic (yet reasonably priced) restaurants.

  1. Rooftop Movie at the Melrose Rooftop Theater

A unique outdoor cinema experience nestled in the heart of West Hollywood’s fashion and design precinct. The Melrose Rooftop Theatre is attached to the property occupied by E.P. & L.P. and the entry is via the lobby at 603 N La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood.

The Theatre is showing cult classic movies and new releases alike. The cinema utilizes wireless technology with individual headsets provided to guests to maximize the cinema experience.

  1. The Comedy Store

Enjoy a laugh at one of the comedy store’s three separate stages from established comedians, as well as emerging talents performing at this venue that was founded by the late stand-up comic Sammy Shore. His ex-wife, Mitzi Shore began operating the club in 1973. Shows run nightly and are a great way to get in your belly laughs.

  1. Happy hour

Barney’s is a fantastic place to watch your favorite sporting event, play pub-style trivia with friends, or sing some karaoke late nights. Barney’s Beanery is a full-service bar/restaurant with a history in LA going back almost 100 years.  They’ve grown over the years, from a small chili-cafe in West Hollywood to a multi-unit staple of the Los Angeles restaurant scene.

  1. Plummer Park

Visit the historic Plummer Park. This park on Santa Monica Boulevard provides a picnic space, tennis courts, and a play area with facilities, as well as a community center.

It was once part of a large ranch covering the areas bounded by present-day Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Gardner Street, and La Brea Avenue.

  1. Show at the Troubadour

It’s at the legendary Troubadour club that the greatest musicians have performed, including Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, James Taylor and Sir Elton John. Contemporary artists and bands like Prince, Coldplay, John Legend, and Red Hot Chili Peppers have also performed here. Troubadour is still one of LA’s best destinations for live music to this day. You never know who may make a surprise appearance next!
